How can I tell if a stylus system is good?
An ideal stylus system has as minimal joints as possible, is rigid, lightweight and temperature-resistant. The stylus is the “tip” of the stylus system and is the first point of contact to the workpiece. Three factors must be taken into account while choosing a stylus tip: the stylus specification, the shape and material of the tip. In general, all styli should be as resistant to bending as possible, in order to properly register the measuring force, largely without any deformation or so-called “stylus bend”.
